Bruxism: Not the Usual Grind

Sure, it's annoying when friends, spouses or children grind their teeth at night, but the effects could be much more serious than the loss of a good night's sleep on your part. This sleep disorder, called bruxism, can lead to a number of ailments, including loose or lost teeth. Even lighter grinding can wear down tooth enamel.

If you or someone in your family is grinding their teeth at night, call us at (936) 242-0319 to schedule an appointment with FistName Gardner, D.D.S..

Dental Disease Is Preventable

Developing healthy lifelong dental habits is the best way to prevent nearly every type of dental disease. Dr. Gardner recommends that you brush your teeth twice a day with a good toothpaste, floss between your teeth every day, eat a balanced diet and limit your between-meal snacks.

Be sure to schedule regular dental care by calling Conroe Comprehensive Dental Center at (936) 242-0319. By making smart food choices and following a healthy dental routine, you can dramatically lower your risk of developing tooth decay.

Oral Health for Seniors

At Conroe Comprehensive Dental Center we believe that the good habits of effective daily brushing and a healthy diet will help the aging person adapt to changing conditions. Reduced salivary flow and addition of medications can affect oral health dramatically.

Teeth may darken because of long-term exposure to plaque and changes in the dentin within the tooth. The gums may recede and uncover the roots, making them more prone to decay. Poorly-fitting or poorly-cleaned dentures, illness, and some medications increase the severity of the problem. For more information regarding dental problems of seniors, please call our office at (936) 242-0319.
